Zopf's legendary curry bread sells 700 pieces a day. Zopf is a bakery located in a quiet residential area of Matsudo, Chiba. Chef Ihara's breads are known for their international lineup, ranging from hard breads like campagne, brioche, and broccoli to apple pie, stollen, and croissants. They also offer a luxurious breakfast menu from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Though the shop is located far from the station, it's a mecca for bread lovers, with many fans from all over Japan lining up every day. Zopf's first Tokyo store, a curry bread specialty store, will open inside JR Tokyo Station on July 10th. We went to check it out ahead of the opening.

Of the 300 varieties of bread baked every day at the Matsudo flagship store, the original curry bread remains the most popular. They also had a stall at the bread event "ISEPAN" held at Isetan Shinjuku in May, where they attracted so much attention that people always lined up for the curry bread.
Only this "Tsop Original Curry Bread" (324 yen including tax) is sold in the shop. The curry bread is coated with coarse breadcrumbs and deep-fried for a long time to give it a fragrant crunchy texture. When you bite into it, you'll find a chewy, sweet dough and a generous amount of piping hot curry filling, making it a very satisfying delicacy. The curry is made with plenty of minced beef, simmered with onions, carrots, and mushrooms, and finished with over 10 types of spices, creating an addictive spicy flavor.

With the belief that "curry bread should be eaten freshly fried," the newly opened curry bread specialty store will have a kitchen equipped for frying so that freshly fried bread can always be sold. Opening hours are from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM (until 9:00 PM on Sundays and the last day of holidays). It's located close to the Shinkansen ticket gates and the Narita Express platform, making it the perfect companion for business trips and travel.

They expect to sell around 1,500 to 2,000 units per day. Be sure to try this masterpiece at Tokyo Station.
