Event Date:2021.01.29-03.02
Jan 29, 2021
IDEE Gallery, located inside IDEE TOKYO (Gransta Tokyo B1F, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), will be hosting the "IDEE Life in ART" Exhibition from January 29, 2021 to March 2, 2021, showcasing works by eight artists who have previously exhibited at IDEE.

IDÉE Life in ART is an IDEE project that showcases art under the theme of "everyday art." To help people feel closer to art in their daily lives, we are undertaking a wide range of initiatives, from introducing the works of artists and writers whose creations resonate with us, to special exhibitions and collaborations, regardless of whether they are famous or unknown, contemporary, or from Japan or abroad.

This exhibition will introduce eight artists who have previously exhibited at IDEE.

Participating Artists (in alphabetical order)

Inoue Yoko
Collage artist. Graduated from the Western Painting course at Kyoto University of Art and Design.
She values chance and natural rhythms, combining paper and drawings to create collage works.

Sakamoto Chinako
Born in 1992. Graduated from the Sculpture Department of Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London, UK in 2016. Returned to Japan in 2018 and is currently based in Nagasaki. Started pottery while at university, and creates works using the hand-building technique, drawing inspiration from the motifs and shapes she collects. She uses glazes that she mixes herself, and experiments daily in search of colors and textures that blend the old and the new.

Tagami Masakatsu
Born in 1944 to a farming family in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
After studying philosophy at university, he moved to Tokyo at the age of 29. He happened to walk into an atelier and became obsessed with the joy of painting, and since then, for over 40 years, he has continued to paint an average of 3 to 7 works a day without taking a break, never saying he "didn't have enough time."

Matsubayashi Makoto
Born in Kochi Prefecture. Graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Graduate School of Sokei Art School.
Residency and work took place at the Maison International des Arts de Paris for one year. His artwork has been exhibited at Seven Days Hotel Plus (Kochi) as well as solo exhibitions at Minä Perhonen, Gallery Feb, and other venues across Japan.

Morrison Kobayashi
Worked at IDÉE from 1995 to 1999 before going independent.
While working in interior design and construction, he creates sculptural works using metal, primarily iron, and fallen trees.

Yamaguchi Ichiro
Painter. Resides in Kagawa Prefecture.
After graduating from Setsu Mode Seminar, he worked as an illustrator in magazine advertising. He currently holds regular solo exhibitions at venues such as DEE'S HALL in Aoyama, and also exhibits in galleries overseas.

Yamane Daisuke
Born in 1984. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts.
He creates sculptures, mainly with animal motifs, by combining driftwood collected from the sea or lake, parts and metal pieces, and scraps of furniture.

Samiro Yunoki
Dyeing artist. Born in Tokyo in 1922.
After encountering the "Mingei" advocated by Soetsu Yanagi, he apprenticed under Serizawa and decided to pursue a career in dyeing. In 1955, he held his first solo exhibition at Takumi Kogei-ten in Ginza. Since then, he has continued to create works for over 50 years, presenting numerous works. He has held exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, including at the Guimet Museum of Asian Art in France and the Japan Folk Crafts Museum, and has received acclaim.
