Grand Hyatt Tokyo to host "Matcha Fika Afternoon Tea" themed on the Nordic region where Moomin lives

Mar 27, 2019
Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Roppongi, Tokyo will be offering a menu featuring Scandinavia to coincide with the "Moomin Exhibition: THE ART AND THE STORY," which opens on April 9th at the Mori Arts Center Gallery.

All Day Dining French Kitchen will be offering a buffet-style "Matcha Fika Afternoon Tea" (3,800 yen on weekdays, 4,200 yen on weekends and holidays *tax and service charge not included) from April 9th to June 16th. "Fika" is Swedish for the time spent enjoying coffee and snacks, and guests can enjoy as many of Scandinavian favorites as they like with their drinks, including a matcha-flavored take on the traditional semla, the Swedish "Princess Cake," and the oatmeal-flavored "Chocolat de Boral."

In addition to 10 sweet treats, such as the smooth matcha crème d'ange made with matcha from Uji, Kyoto, and rich matcha tiramisu, the lineup also includes six savory dishes, including Scandinavian staples like meatballs, a rye bread sandwich with homemade smoked salmon, and a Scandinavian home-cooked dish called bruschetta made with multigrain bread and marinated herring.

At the Italian cafe Fiorentina on the first floor, they offer the "Fika Cake Set" (1,800 yen *tax and service charge not included), which allows you to enjoy the traditional Swedish dessert "semla."   The traditional Swedish dessert "semla" is made by hollowing out a sweet cardamom-flavored bread and filling it with custard cream mixed with almond paste and whipped cream. It is garnished with homemade vanilla ice cream and colorful fruits, making for an elegant "fika" experience with coffee. The event will run from April 1st to June 16th, and will be open from 14:30 to 18:00 on weekdays, and from 15:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

In addition, the first 2,000 people to order the "Fika Cake Set" or "Matcha Fika Afternoon Tea" between April 9th and June 16th will receive an original coaster from "Moomin Exhibition THE ART AND THE STORY."

Why not enjoy a fika with a variety of sweets inspired by the Nordic world where Moomin lives?
