Ehomaki has now become a more established tradition of Setsubun than the bean-throwing ceremony.

In fact, there are no set rules for the ingredients, and it's a very creative sushi roll that allows you to enjoy the ingenuity of each store, with seafood, meat, and vegetables.

Every year, we will introduce a selection of store-exclusive ehomaki from Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, which has a rich lineup of over 20 types of ehomaki from sushi restaurants, traditional Japanese restaurants, butcher shops, delicatessens and more. Not only are the fillings listed, but details such as length and release date are also included, so be sure to use this as a reference for selecting your "best ehomaki"! 



Shinodazushi Sohonten, Ningyocho

Shinodazushi Sohonten, Ningyocho "Edo's Famous Restaurant: Eel Climbing Ehomaki" ¥3,240 (tax included)

Nihonbashi Izumoya Eel and Duck Dish This ehomaki is a collaboration between two famous Edo-style restaurants, featuring minced duck from Toriyasu and Tsukiji Matsuro rolled omelet wrapped in nori seaweed from Yamamotoyama Nori. It measures approximately 3.5cm in diameter and 20cm in length. Only 60 units will be available for sale starting February 3rd at noon.



Kuhashi

The colorful seafood selection is all top-quality, carefully selected by renowned Edomae sushi restaurants. A luxurious dish with plenty of filling. It is about 4.5cm in diameter and 18cm long. A half size (1,188 yen including tax) is also available. It will be on sale for two days, February 2nd and 3rd.



Ginza SUSHI AOKI
Ginza Sushi Aoki "Ehomaki Roll with Shrimp, Conger Eel, and Salmon Belly" ¥3,240 (tax included)

Ginza has delighted gourmets while preserving the traditions of Edomae sushi. This dish by Sushi Aoki is made with shrimp, conger eel, salmon belly, dried gourd, shiitake mushroom, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), oboro (soft-boiled rice), and mitsuba (Japanese parsley). It is approximately 5cm in diameter and 18cm long. Only 60 pieces will be available for sale on February 3rd.


Yoshimura
Yoshimura "Ehomaki Denrai" ¥2,916 (tax included)

A half-size set of pickled mackerel, conger eel, shrimp, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), squid, cucumber, dried gourd, and shiso leaves (photo left), and crab, tamagoyaki, and zucchini (photo right). If you're looking to sample a variety of flavors, Yoshimura's ehomaki is the perfect choice. It's approximately 6cm in diameter and 9cm long. Limited to 40 pieces, available on February 3rd.



Minokichi


Minokichi "Domestic Eel and Wagyu Ehomaki" ¥3,240 (tax included)

This nutritious ehomaki, unique to Kyoto restaurants, allows you to enjoy both domestic eel and Wagyu beef at the same time. Mibuna greens, dried baby sardines, and sansho pepper add a refreshing accent. It measures approximately 5cm in diameter and 18cm in length. Limited to 50 units, available on February 3rd.



Tsuboya


Tsuboya "Inari Ehomaki" ¥540 (tax included)

The roll, the true essence of "Tsuboya Inari Sushi," is not made with nori seaweed but with the same simmered fried tofu as their signature inari sushi. The toppings include crab-flavored kamaboko, minced shrimp, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), cucumber, and dried gourd. Approximately 5cm in diameter and 7cm long. Limited to 100 units, available on February 3rd.
