The 2nd Anko Expo is being held from September 26th to October 1st at the event venue on the 7th floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store. Held for the first time last year, it was a hugely popular event, attracting many repeat customers who returned multiple times throughout the event. This year, the second event is themed "Deliver! Anko," and will feature approximately 30 shops promoting the appeal of anko, from classic flavors to more unusual varieties. Here, we'll introduce some of the most noteworthy "anko" on display.

Takumi Ankodo's "Anko Plate," which allows you to choose your own bean paste and toppings, was a hot topic last year and is back again this year. Enjoy a unique dish by combining 10 types of bean paste made with various azuki beans, including Tamba Dainagon, Hokkaido Dainagon, and Hokkaido-grown Elimo azuki beans, with toppings like agar, mango, and vanilla ice cream.

Taneya's "Dora Soft" and "Dora Soft with Chestnut," normally only available in Omihachiman, will also be available exclusively at this event. The "Dora Soft" is a dorayaki pancake filled with bean paste and soft-serve ice cream. The "Dora Soft Chestnut" combines chestnut paste for a taste unique to autumn.

At the Anko Expo, you won't want to miss the classic items, but also the more unusual ones. Kameya Yoshinaga's "Amazasi" (sweet red bean paste), exhibited for the Anko Expo under the name "Amazasi Yoshinaga," features innovative ingredients like chocolate mint and basil, and a cute, hairpin-like appearance. Another noteworthy point is the Italian restaurant Bigote's "Calzone," a collaboration between red bean paste and anko, offering new ways to enjoy the treat.
