EISWELT GELATO, an animal gelato shop from Huntington Beach, California, is making its Japan debut. It will open at the Takeshita Exit of Harajuku on September 13th.

Opening its first store in 2015, EISWELT's gelato, featuring adorable animal faces, became a hot topic on Instagram, and it quickly grew into a popular shop. "EISWELT" means "Ice World" in German, and the owner spent her childhood there, so she used the German language, which she is familiar with, to name the shop.

The owner, Vyvy Hoang, is a 23-year-old California resident. She traveled to Italy alone to learn how to make gelato, and after returning to Japan in 2015 at the age of 20, opened her own shop. Dozens of gelato varieties are handmade in-store using original recipes, and all of the iconic characters are her own creation. Characters that appear irregularly to coincide with seasonal events and current events also contribute to the brand's popularity. The new store, located on Takeshita Street in Harajuku, a mecca for young people, is the brand's first overseas location. Similar to its California store, the store will feature standard characters such as "Teddy Bear" (580 yen), "Pig" (580 yen), "Pig + Piglet" (750 yen), "Chick" (580 yen), "Bunny" (650 yen), and "Bunny & Chick" (780 yen), as well as a limited-time "Five Little Pigs" (1,300 yen). Also available in Japan will be "Frog" (580 yen), as well as Japan-exclusive flavors of Milk, Strawberry Milk, and Purple Sweet Potato.

We plan to continue selling limited edition flavors and character designs tailored to Japanese needs. Don't miss out on our cute and delicious gelato that's perfect for Instagram.
