Taneya Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture), a manufacturer and seller of Japanese sweets, will release its original yokan, "Dean Fuji Yokan," developed together with Dean Fujioka of Amuse Inc., a comprehensive entertainment company, on September 19th.
A combination of Honnama Yokan and coffee sauce
Dean Fuji Yokan" is served by pouring the accompanying coffee sauce over Taneya Honnama Yokan. The newly released "Dean Fuji Yokan" features "Honsei Yokan," made with Hokkaido azuki beans using Taneya's unique "Honsei Method," paired with Dean's favorite coffee sauce. Coffee from the Gayo region of Aceh, Indonesia, is what Dean describes as "fuel for creativity." The roasting and grinding processes are meticulously performed, with the beans slowly extracted using low-temperature water to prevent any impurities. The resulting coffee sauce is fragrant and flavorful, evoking the taste that first sparked Dean's love for coffee.
Combining Taneya's "Honsei Yokan" and "Coffee Sauce from the Gayo region of Aceh," Dean and Taneya share a mutual appreciation for ingredients, and the "Dean Fuji Yokan" also boasts a unique way of serving it. After savoring the freshness of the Honsei Yokan with the first bite, the included coffee sauce allows for a rich, expansive coffee flavor.
Donating a Portion of the Purchase Price of Coffee
A portion of the purchase price of the coffee used in our coffee sauce is used to cover the operating costs of the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme* through The Orang Utan Regenwald GmbH.

Banda Aceh was the filming location for the movie "Running Through the Sea," starring Dean. It's a place that had a life-changing impact on Dean, as it was here that he first fell in love with coffee after hating it. And, as Dean has traveled back and forth between Japan and Indonesia as a musician, actor, and film producer, the Indonesian and Japanese flags are hidden on the outer box—a unique idea.
A collaboration between coffee-loving Dean and Taneya's yokan
"Dean Fuji Yokan" was born from a relationship with Dean Fujioka, a renowned yokan connoisseur. It combines "honjo yokan," made with Hokkaido azuki beans, agar, and water from the Suzuka Mountains, with coffee, which Dean describes as "the fuel that drives his creative work." To celebrate this collaboration, we held a conversation with Dean at La Collina Omihachiman in Shiga Prefecture in March 2022.
He talked about eating yokan before live performances or photo shoots, and how he prefers simple, pure flavors without any added extraneous ingredients. This is the same as what Taneya values when making sweets. They have been selling their "Honsei Yokan" since 2004 and have created a unique method to bring out the flavor of the red beans, and they continue to strive to make it even more delicious.
