On November 29th, fashion designer Suzuki Takayuki performed a two-hour live performance of himself making clothes at the special International Creators booth on the second floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building. From November 26th to December 2nd, Suzuki Takayuki was promoting his first men's capsule collection on the same floor, and the live performance was part of that promotion. This first men's capsule collection features vintage fabrics, some of which Suzuki has collected himself, as well as fabrics he sourced specifically for the collection. The collection includes one-of-a-kind jackets, vests, and shirts embellished with paintings, buttons, stitching, and other decorative details. Some items are crafted from fabrics dating from the 1870s to the 1800s. Regarding the appeal of antique fabrics, Suzuki says, "There's a unique history to fabrics that have survived the test of time. There's a high chance of finding high-quality fabrics, such as those woven from materials from fertile lands nearly 150 years ago." Furthermore, rather than using the high-speed looms that are mainstream these days, Suzuki creates items that take advantage of the unique texture of materials woven slowly using shuttle looms. When asked what inspired him to start performing live clothing, he revealed, "When you think of clothing as a form of expression, it's less explosive than music or cooking. I wanted to express the reality and professionalism of the act of 'making clothes' through the performance of making clothes in front of an audience." He concluded by saying that he plans to continue these kinds of live performances, "I want audiences to enjoy the unique surprise of a live performance and the soothing sounds of the sewing machine and scissors." At a special booth set up within the museum, some customers stopped to listen to Suzuki's performance while others even struck up a conversation.
