Mori Trust Group, in collaboration with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, will open the Suiran Luxury Collection Hotel Kyoto in spring 2015.
The "Luxury Collection" brand represents the highest level of luxury within Starwood Hotels & Resorts. "Suiran" is a term coined by Ryotaro Shiba in praise of the lush greenery of Arashiyama. The hotel maximizes the natural beauty of the area while incorporating the spatial design and service of a traditional Japanese inn, emblematic of Japanese hospitality culture. Conveniently located along the Hozu River near Togetsukyo Bridge, the hotel allows guests to check in immediately after strolling around Arashiyama.
The hotel features 39 luxuriously appointed guest rooms with a "moon" theme, featuring traditional Japanese décor in colors such as jade and violets. The windows offer picturesque views of the Japanese garden and Arashiyama, and the hotel also features a terrace and moon-viewing platform. Some rooms, including suites, offer private open-air baths filled with Arashiyama hot spring water. The reception area is an elegant space that pays homage to bamboo blinds and lattices, and counter seating overlooking the garden has been arranged so that guests can relax for a moment after checking in. The hotel's restaurant serves kaiseki cuisine with a modern twist, as well as teppanyaki in private rooms. The sweet shop and cafe have also been renovated from buildings that are over 100 years old, and guests will want to spend a relaxing time in the Japanese-style interior or on the terrace seating overlooking the Hozu River.
