Italian casual wear brand GAS will release a collaboration T-shirt (11,000 yen) with Japanese photographer Masayoshi Sukita's photo exhibition "David Bowie 'HEROES'" in mid-April.
David Bowie is a musician who has continued to lead the music industry for 50 years. Bowie's fictional characters, depicted in album photos for "Ziggy Stardust," "The Thin White Duke," and "Halloween Jack," have left such a strong impact that they could be considered alter egos.
The exhibition, which began on March 5th at ONO Arte Contemporanea in Bologna, Italy, displays a number of archived photographs of Bowie that Sukita has taken over the years. Among these, 40 works related to the film "The Man Who Fell to Earth," starring Bowie, are on display for the first time, the largest number ever. For this collaboration, the brand's creative team selected two photographs used in the "Bowie V-2 Schneider" and "Bowie MY-MY / MY-MY." These images, printed with the brand logo, are enhanced by layering the original images on photographic film. Barbara Grotto, Head of Marketing & Communications at GAS Italy, said of the collaboration, "Originality, authenticity, a desire for freedom, and a touch of rebellion symbolize the idea of connecting the worlds of music and denim, and that they will always be ours." Each collaborative T-shirt is numbered and limited to 2,000 pieces. Available at GAS Cat Street, Nagoya Creare, Kyoto, Namba Parks, and Canal City stores, as well as the brand's official online store.
