David Bowie was born on January 8, 1947, in Brixton, London. His real name was David Robert Jones. Influenced by the jazz scene in London's West End, he began playing the saxophone at the age of 13. He adopted the name David Bowie in 1966 and released his debut album, "David Bowie," in 1967. In 1972, Bowie rose to become a leading glam rock star with the album "Ziggy Stardust." He toured as the fictional rock star Ziggy Stardust, wearing costumes designed by Kansai Yamamoto during the tour, which attracted attention. In the mid-1970s, he became interested in American music, and his first US number one hit was the single "Fame," a collaboration with John Lennon from the 1975 album "Young Americans." He then moved to Los Angeles and starred in the film "The Man Who Fell to Earth." He continued to produce hit after hit, and in 1983, he starred alongside Ryuichi Sakamoto in the film "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" as Celliers. That same year, his album "Let's Dance" became the greatest success of Bowie's career, influencing many famous artists, including Duran Duran and Boy George. He also focused on his art, and in 1995 held his first solo exhibition at London's Cork Street Gallery. In 1996, his single "Telling Lies" became the first to be released online, becoming a hit with 350,000 downloads across the United States. In 1999, he launched the 24/7 David Bowie Radio Network on the website Rolling Stone Radio. In May of the same year, he received an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2000, he began to take a break from his activities due to poor health, but in 2013, he began to actively participate again. In January 2013, he released the single "Where Are We Now?", and in March, his first album in 10 years, "The Next Day," topped the iTunes charts in 27 countries within 24 hours of its release. In the same month, the world's first large-scale retrospective tracing Bowie's footsteps, "David Bowie Is," was held at London's Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).

He also appears in this fall's new Louis Vuitton campaign. Captivated by the beauty of model Arizona Muse, who plays the heroine, he performs a special version of "I'd Rather Be High," a track from his latest album, "The Next Day."
