Chaumet has collaborated with artist Loris Cecchini to release the Class One Loris Cecchini, a collector's item limited to 300 pieces, in April.
Loris combines photography, painting, sculpture, and installation to create works that explore the theme of transformation. He has created contemporary art that intertwines fantasy and reality, using various collages, precise architectural models, rubber objects, and structurally distorted spaces. These works have been presented at international events such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and MoMa PS1 in New York.
This latest piece is based on the Class One, the brand's first sports watch, introduced in 1998. The watch features an original design that boldly combines steel, rubber, and diamonds. The dial features a water-themed pattern. The design of the collaborative watch was inspired by Loris's "Wallwave Vibrations" series of monochrome sculptures, which depict the rippling of flowing water. The dial features beautiful reflections of mother-of-pearl representing the rippling of water against a satin-finished sunburst background. The ripples are further extended to the white calfskin strap. Cecchini also designed the case, which is engraved with a design reminiscent of the rippling of water. Each watch is engraved with a serial number and placed in a signed Thief case.
