The Japanese version of T Magazine, a style magazine first published by The New York Times (NYT) in 2004, will be launched on March 25th by Shueisha and Asahi Shimbun.
Two major features include in-depth interviews with COMME des GARÇONS designer Rei Kawakubo and musician Björk. Kawakubo will be interviewed by Hirofumi Kurino of United Arrows, who has been associated with the brand since the 1970s. The interview will be published alongside a shoot for the 2015 Spring/Summer collection and a rare new portrait of Kawakubo herself. We spoke to Björk, who appears on the cover, about her retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and her new album.
The lineup of other exciting reading material includes "Because I'm Happy," a column by beauty journalist Saito Kaoru, "Timeless Pieces," which introduces high-end brand items, and "Dancing With All Living Creatures," which describes the Japanese view of life from the Choju Jinbutsu Giga to Nausicaa. Each article has a unique twist.
Distribution is limited to Asahi Shimbun subscribers and members of Shueisha's online shopping site "FLAG SHOP," but the digital version can be viewed for free on the magazine's official website (tjapan.jp).
