Comme des Garçons special feature "SWITCH" on sale tomorrow! 90 pages featuring exclusive coverage of Rei Kawakubo, full coverage of Six, and more

Feb 19, 2015

The March issue of SWITCH magazine, on sale February 20th (1,200 yen), will feature over 90 pages of content on COMME des GARÇONS. It's packed with content that could be considered a permanent keepsake.

While COMME des GARÇONS has recently featured in major magazines like EYESCREAM and +81, this time the spotlight will be on the publication of every page of all eight issues of COMME des GARÇONS' legendary visual magazine, "Six."

"Six" was a print publication published in small print runs from 1988 to 1991 to communicate the brand's image to customers and stakeholders. Edited by fashion journalist Atsuko Kosashi and art directed by Tsuguya Inoue, it has earned high praise, and is now a rare item, fetching around 20,000 yen per issue at secondhand bookstores and auctions. The DNA of "Six" has been passed down to the Direct Mail Project, which has produced collaborations with recent artists. This issue features the 2015 Direct Mail, featuring contemporary artist JR, alongside five poems by poet Shuntaro Tanikawa. A 13-page exclusive interview with designer Rei Kawakubo is also featured, along with excerpts of her words from past interviews. The 15 Spring/Summer collection, "Roses and Blood," is photographed by photographer Kazumi Kurigami, who previously worked on Comme des Garçons catalogs. In total, the issue features Comme des Garçons in a comprehensive 90-page feature. Additionally, purchases from the Switch Online Store will receive a bonus copy of the 2015 Direct Mail or an A2-size cover poster.
