Issey Miyake's new 3D hat, with glassworks by Ritsue Mishima

Mar 24, 2015

ISSEY MIYAKE will hold the "Windscape" event at three locations across Japan. The event shares the same name as the brand's SS15 collection. Items from the "ORBIT" hat series, which will be unveiled for the first time, will be displayed alongside glassworks by artist Ritsue Mishima. ORBIT utilizes the brand's latest molding technology, "3D Steam Stretch," which evolved from arcs to surfaces in the SS15 collection. The three-dimensional fabrics created using this technology create beautiful forms reminiscent of planetary orbits. Furthermore, the lineup features items that take advantage of the firm, lustrous texture of the fabrics, making them suitable for a wide range of occasions, from everyday wear to formal occasions. Mishima, meanwhile, is an artist based in Japan and Europe who creates glassworks using traditional Murano techniques. In 2013, she held a solo exhibition at the Palazzo Grimani National Museum.

The period is from April 1st to 7th at Hankyu Umeda Main Store, from April 8th to 14th at Isetan Shinjuku Main Store, and from April 2nd to 30th at ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE/GINZA.
