The opening party for the Versace Ginza store was held on November 25th. The Versace Ginza store opened in Omotesando in May, followed by the Versace Home store in Ginza 5-chome in July. Since the main store in Kioicho closed in 2009, the long-awaited return of a flagship store stocking the full Versace line has been awaited.
A gold staircase leads to the three-story space, with accessories on the first floor, men's on the second floor, and women's ready-to-wear on the third floor. Artistic director Donatella Versace commented, "I really like the design, which pays homage to Italy's cultural heritage. It has become a space where the spirit of the new Versace can take flight."
The store concept was created by Donatella and British architect Jamie Fobert. The first floor features a mosaic floor inspired by Byzantine churches, with transparent acrylic fixtures and vivid logo sign objects, and the store offers a wide range of products, including bags, shoes, eyewear, and scarves, which will be fully launched from next spring/summer.
The second and third floors feature lavish floors made of Italian marble with different finishes, white walls with curved edges, brass, and transparent acrylic resin, which evoke the Versace style of the 1980s while expressing a contemporary luxury atmosphere.
With the opening of the store, the facades of Barneys New York, Brunello Cucinelli, and Versace lined Kojunkai-dori Street, and on the opening day, a glamorous photocall was held along Namiki-dori Street, bringing excitement to Ginza with the return of the gold Medusa.
