COACH launched its limited-edition "Disney x Coach" collection on June 17th, first at Coach Omotesando, Coach Ginza, and Coach Shinjuku, and then at Coach stores nationwide and its official online shop.
The "Disney x Coach" collection is part of Coach's 75th anniversary limited-edition collection of leather goods and ready-to-wear items featuring Mickey Mouse. Based on Coach's iconic pieces, the collection features sketches by Disney animators on glove-tanned leather bags and T-shirts, such as the "Saddle" and "Dinky." Other items include a biker jacket featuring the silhouette of Mickey Mouse's ears with punk-inspired studs, and the "Kisslock" bag, a reinterpretation of Coach archives from the 1960s with a frame shaped like Mickey Mouse's ears. Collectible pieces include a large black leather Mickey Mouse doll and a shearling bean bag. Prior to its release in Japan, the collection was released in advance at the Coach store in Soho, New York, and at Colette in Paris. Katie Grand, editor-in-chief of Love magazine and a longtime friend of Stuart Vevers, designed the "Disney x Coach" store space at the Soho store. To commemorate this, Stuart Vevers designed a "Coach/Love" T-shirt and tote bag featuring an even more punk-inspired Mickey Mouse, using sequins and studs. Additionally, Coach's four flagship stores in Japan, including Omotesando, Ginza, Shinjuku, and Sendai, are offering a monogramming service that allows customers who purchase a bag or small leather item from the Disney x Coach collection to have a Mickey Mouse silhouette and initials engraved on their item. Additionally, for a limited time, the interior of Coach Omotesando will be decorated with a Disney x Coach theme.
In addition, a pop-up shop will be open from June 29th to July 5th at Kotokoto Stage 11 on the first floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store. To commemorate this, a talk show by Mori Hikari is scheduled to take place on July 3rd from 2pm, where she will talk about the appeal of the "Coach 1941" pre-fall collection that debuted this spring, as well as the "Disney x Coach 1941" collection.
On the first day of release, a breakfast event to celebrate the launch was held at Coach Omotesando, with guests including Mori Hikari, Matsuoka Mona, Mannami Yuka, Miyamoto Ayana, and Shito Rei.
