Sacai, the brand led by Chitose Abe, has opened a pop-up shop on the second floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building. It will be open until the 17th.
The 14SS men's collection offers Sacai's take on a new classic style, combining basic items like cardigans, V-neck sweaters, jackets, and shirts with a variety of materials and textiles. Many pieces have a feminine feel befitting a female designer, accented with bright colors and patterns. The shop offers a lineup that expresses the "Space Fantasy" theme of the Isetan Men's Building through the designer's own lens.
The jacquard jacket (2 colors/72,450 yen) and blouson (2 colors/69,300 yen) feature overlapping floral patterns in tones with a camouflage base. The striped knit (3 colors/33,600 yen) features a large floral pattern around the neck, creating a bold combination of patterns. The striped button-down shirt (3 colors/¥39,900) features a border printed over the stripes only on the cuffs, creating a check effect. The large-pattern glen check print shirt (2 colors/¥54,600) is inkjet printed on thin nylon material.
By incorporating modern techniques into traditional techniques, materials, and textiles, Sacai's signature style is expressed. Various ingenious touches, such as the use of stiff fabric for the knit lining, create a soft yet firm feel, resulting in a unique texture.
"As the brand expands, the designer's daily life has changed, with encounters with various people and experiences working on collections, and this has become the driving force behind expanding the range of designs. The brand is acclaimed for its quality, which can be appreciated once worn. We encourage customers to try on basic shirts and cut-and-sew tops," says a brand representative.
