At International Creators on the second floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building, where the Spring/Summer 2014 collection is now in full swing, we spoke to the three brands whose Spring/Summer 2014 collections launched on January 25th: SOPHNET., N.HOOLYWOOD, and WHITE MOUTAINEERING. A colorful sweater (19,950 yen) and knit cap (6,300 yen) caught my eye at the SOPHNET store. Apparently, there are a lot of items in vivid colors this season. Camouflage is a popular pattern. Items include all-camouflage pants (37,800 yen) and shirts (25,200 yen), as well as a tailored jacket (60,900 yen) with camouflage on the sides. This season, the recommended color-pattern combination is a colorful sweater paired with a camouflage pattern. This season's theme for N.Hollywood is Western. The collection reflects the lifestyle of William S. Hurt, a prominent actor in Western films. Following on from the success of the brand in the fall and winter, the brand continues to offer low-gauge sweaters (¥23,100). Other pieces include a perforated leather varsity jacket (¥110,250), a jeweled shirt with studded collars (¥22,050), a button-down shirt with pearl buttons (¥24,150), and side-gore boots with deliberately angled heels (¥57,750), subtly adding a country vibe. Last season's denim jacket (¥52,500) and pants (¥21,000) set was well-received, and the brand plans to make it a staple item with minor changes, such as using different materials. White Mountaineering offers casual styles perfect for relaxing on the go, whether traveling or on a business trip, with items like jersey pants (28,250 yen) and bandana-patterned shirts (29,400 yen). Originally known for its graphic apparel, the brand has now incorporated botanical patterns. The collection includes slip-ons (38,850 yen) and backpacks (23,100 yen) in collaboration with shoe brand KIDS LOVE GAITE. The brand also focuses on materials and functionality. This season, the brand offers a wide selection of items that combine design and functionality, including a shirt (42,000 yen) made from French twill, a material typically used for dresses, and a vest (48,300 yen) made from Gore-Tex. While popular among people in their 20s and 30s, White Mountaineering's commitment to design, materials, and functionality has led to an increase in customers in their 50s.
