To celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary, NEWYORKER will release four new women's blazer models. While recreating the silhouettes of the brand's archive collection, which embodies the brand's slogan, "Everybody Blazer, Everyplace Blazer," the designs incorporate new, more menswear-inspired details. The materials used are carefully selected, including smooth 100% cashmere, lustrous wool, and comfortable knits. The "Miracle Crimp Premium Finish Blazer" (¥53,000), due for release in August, is a modern take on the popular 1970s "Women's Collegiate" blazer. Made from the finest Super 130's wool known as Miracle Crimp, it's treated with the highest quality premium finish in the brand's own factory, resulting in an elegant, lustrous finish. The lining features a burgundy stripe pattern. The "Knit Blazer," released in September, is an adaptation of a hit from the 1980s. The knit fabric is knitted on a rare Japanese knitting machine, and is crafted with meticulous techniques, including molded darts and a two-piece sleeve design. Two styles are available: single (¥33,000) and double (¥36,000). Each is available in two colors: navy and red. The "Club Stripe Blazer," released in October (¥43,000), is crafted from fabric featuring a club stripe pattern made with the four colors of the New Yorker's house tartan. The silhouette is classic, with a low two-piece collar, narrow lapels, and sleeve-like design, but the inclusion of waist darts ensures a comfortable fit for modern women. This updated version of the 1970s model is made with Russell knit fabric.
And going on sale in November is the "100% Cashmere Blazer" (76,000 yen). Based on a men's pattern, it features a sharp silhouette with three buttons and a notch lapel, accented with original metal buttons with the logo. The body is made with a three-sided pattern with no darts, so it fits the female body perfectly. Made from 100% Japanese cashmere, it is soft and comfortable to wear.
In addition, to commemorate January 11th, the day the brand was founded, New Yorker has designated the 11th of each month as "Blazer Day." On that day, staff will also be dressed in blazers when serving customers.
