Food blogger Sakiko Hirano to open greengrocer at Shinjuku Isetan?

Aug 4, 2014

Sakiko Hirano, whose blog about everyday food topics became a hot topic and who published her essay book "Al Dente from Birth" in April, will be holding "Sakiko Hirano's Greengrocer at Isetan" exhibition, focusing on food, in the East Park on the second floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku from August 6th to 25th.

The exhibition will feature paired glasses, tote bags, and stationery in collaboration with "Vegetarian," a juice stand in Shinbashi, Tokyo, that also appears in the aforementioned essay, as well as brooches with food motifs such as sandwiches, shirako (milt), and sushi in collaboration with accessory designer crepe. Also on sale will be pullover parkas inspired by "butter popcorn" and "yokan (sweet bean jelly)," which Hirano created with model Fumiko Aoyagi. The storefront will be designed to resemble a greengrocer, in keeping with Hirano's sensibility.

The buyer in charge commented, "As the number of customers who value lifestyle increases, the distance between fashion, food, and interior design has narrowed. We wondered if we could propose a new angle on food on the fashion floor, so we proposed to Hirano about a pop-up at Isetan. Hirano's attention to food is also reflected in his choice of colors for the products."

The same exhibition will also be held at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store from August 13th to 18th.
