Ryotaro Muramatsu's art deli and restaurant opens in Yoyogi-Uehara

Aug 3, 2014

NAKED, the company behind Tokyo Station's projection mapping and Enoshima Aquarium's "Night Aquarium," has opened its first deli and restaurant, "9STORIES" (22-3 Motoyoyogi-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). Based on the concept of a "World Fusion Experience," the restaurant offers a resort-like atmosphere, featuring international goods and interior design, herbal candles, and greenery. NAKED's latest artwork, based on seasonal themes, is regularly unveiled during dinnertime. The restaurant's cuisine is overseen by Tomohiro Maruyama, owner and chef of the Yoyogi-Uehara bistro Maison Cinquante Cinq, and offers a fusion of Japanese and ethnic cuisine with a touch of French flair. Eight international deli items are always available, each paired with a deli item of your choice, for example, Hainanese chicken rice (¥1,300) or mackerel sandwich (¥1,200). During cafe time, customers can enjoy original cakes and sweets such as "Ginger Gateau Chocolat," and at dinner time, fusion dishes such as "Gizzard Confit with Herb Salad and Poached Egg" paired with international beers and wines.

The coffee is supervised by Sarutahiko Coffee, a specialty coffee shop known as a pioneer of the "third wave" coffee boom, and the lineup includes cafe lattes (570 yen). Takeout options such as "Green Curry" (800 yen) are also available.

Muramatsu commented, "Nine Stories is a 'place' that condenses my idea of 'experiences.' I hope that customers will enjoy the various 'experiences' that can only be found here, such as our packaged service that covers everything from spatial design to food catering, and our takeout international deli."
