Dip it into bread! Breakfast restaurants around the world will be serving Israeli breakfast in March and April

Feb 23, 2017

WORLD BREAKFAST ALLDAY, a cafe restaurant in Gaienmae, Tokyo, with the concept of "discovering the world through breakfast," will be featuring Israel for breakfast in March and April.

The majority of the population is Jewish, and they lived in the diaspora around the world for nearly 2,000 years. Israel was re-established as a Jewish state in 1948 after World War II, and has a unique food culture that blends the cuisine originally eaten by Jews with the food cultures of the places where the people wandered.

The Israeli breakfast (1,500 yen) is based on Arab cuisine and includes the classic shakshaka, a fried egg in a cumin-flavored vegetable sauce; hummus, a chickpea paste; and labaneh, a white cheese dip tossed in olive oil and zadar spices, eaten with bread. Other Israeli national drinks such as mint tea and limonana, as well as a variety of desserts such as halva and malabi, will also be available, and the event will run from February 28th to May 7th.

In addition, with the cooperation of the Israeli Embassy, a number of events, including workshops, are scheduled to be held during the event.
