The "It's a Sony" exhibition, a countdown event held ahead of the Sony Building's reconstruction, will hold its second half from February 22nd to March 31st.
Part 1 of the exhibition, which began on November 12th, 2016, featured a "history" theme, showcasing numerous products created since Sony's founding along with advertisements from that time. A total of 750,000 people visited the exhibition over the 73 days until January 24th.
Part 2, the second half of the exhibition, will be themed on "future," and will feature events such as installations that make use of the Sony Building's distinctive petal structure, live performances, and talk shows. Additionally, a space will be created where visitors can experience a "park in the middle of the city," embodying the concept of "a facility open to the city" of "Ginza Sony Park," which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2018. Artificial turf is laid across the first to fourth floors, and large-scale wall art and a "park xylophone" are installed on the interior walls from the second to fourth floors. The highlight of the installation is that when you roll a wooden ball onto the xylophone, which is set up in a staircase pattern from the upper floors to the lower floors, a song is played, allowing you to "touch, play, follow and have fun." During the period, various events will be held in the building, including the audition event "Traveling Interview-chan" by Sony Music Entertainment (February 25th and March 18th, from 12pm to 5pm each day), live performances by the talented Asian beauty instrumental band "Annin Showkestra" (February 26th, March 12th and 26th, from 1pm, 2:30pm and 4pm each day), and "DAVID BOWIE is ~Premium Talk Show~" (February 26th, March 5th, 11th and 19th, doors open at 5:15pm, performance begins at 5:30pm and ends at 6:30pm each day, all seating is unreserved, 5,000 yen).
In addition, pre-orders are now being taken for cut-out pieces of the louvers (exterior wall) outside the Sony Building.
