CHANEL presented its 2013-14 Métiers d'Art collection at Fair Park, a national historical park located in the heart of Dallas. The theme was "Wild West." Karl Lagerfeld's designs were inspired by the history of pioneers in Texas before the Civil War. The collection began with an updated version of the day suit originally designed by Mademoiselle Chanel. Loose-fitting jackets were adorned with embroidered stars and fringe, and flared skirts were paired with Western-style boots. The collection continued with ponchos, Western shirts, leather pants and coats, horn-print sweaters, denim jackets, and jeans with feather trim. Pleats, ruffles, and saddle motifs were also frequently used. The color palette is based on Chanel's signature white, beige, red, navy, and black, incorporating Western hues like blush pink, brown, and turquoise. Materials include silk, satin, tweed, leather, and denim.
The Métiers d'Art collection is a ready-to-wear collection created using the techniques of artisans at Chanel's couture atelier. It has been released annually since 2002.
