Eddie Jones, former head coach of the Japan national rugby team and current head coach of the England national team, will appear in the Mitsukoshi Isetan Group's New Year's advertisement starting January 1st.
Eddie was the leader of the Japan national rugby team that achieved a historic feat at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, thrilling the whole of Japan. The Mitsukoshi Isetan Group resonated with Eddie's strong belief that "Japanese people should not be satisfied with the status quo, but should be able to shine even more by expecting more from themselves," and has therefore signed his first advertising contract in Japan. The New Year's advertisement will also be displayed on giant banners at the Isetan Shinjuku store, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, and Ginza Mitsukoshi, and will also be published in the morning editions of the Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Sankei Shimbun, and Nihon Keizai Shimbun on New Year's Day. The New Year's advertisement's message is "People have high hopes for you." This message conveys the message that "Japanese people, who combine diligence and creativity, can achieve even greater success on the global stage. By not being satisfied with the status quo and expecting more from ourselves, we can spread the message of 'this is Japan.'" "This is Japan." is a new corporate message established in 2015 by Isetan Mitsukoshi, further deepening its "JAPAN SENSES" initiative, which reaffirms the value created by Japanese traditions, culture, and aesthetics and offers it to customers as new value. The company has positioned this as a management strategy, and the entire group is proposing "globally relevant Japanese qualities" in products, sales services, and other areas as the foundation for creating new stores. In an interview during the shoot, Eddie was asked what he would convey if he were the "head coach of the country of Japan." He replied, "Have the courage to believe. Keep training to achieve your goals." This event will also be posted on Isetan Mitsukoshi's special website (see URL below).
