Fashion designer Shuko Nakazato's pop-up shop, "Welcome to ISETAN Space Branch—Our Future Department Store," will open on the 26th in the Tokyo Liberation Zone (TOKYO Liberation Zone) on the second floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, based on the story of Isetan's first space branch opening in the year 3016. The shop will run until January 12, 2016. The shop will showcase 3016 trends and Nakazato's unique vision for what a space department store should be like. Also noteworthy are the pop-up items she selected with the keywords "travel," "souvenirs," and "New Year's." NN, the brand Nakazato designs, will offer 3016 trend items, including the space department store uniform and travel essential pajamas. The space branch will also feature Earth-themed souvenirs, such as sweets featuring Egyptian archaeologist Sakuji Yoshimura, the Sphinx, and Tutankhamun. Additionally, creative studio KLOKA, known for its giant diorama installations, will be offering a selection of fantastical souvenir items that seem to transcend time and space.
Guests will be Nogizaka46's Ito Marika and Hori Miona. Ito will be a tour guide for the space travel service "nn air," guiding guests on a short trip from Isetan Shinjuku to the Space Branch. Hori will be a Space Branch guide, welcoming visitors dressed in the Space Branch uniform with a space-themed monkey on her shoulder. In addition, in collaboration with the VR research and development team Psychic VR Lab, they will be providing a journey to the ISETAN Space Branch. During the event, the shop will offer a new travel experience using virtual reality.
The "ISETAN Space Branch" allows visitors to soar into 3016 and embark on an uncharted journey into space. Nakazato herself said, "Space is a dream. I took on this project with 5000% passion," so why not add this all-out space journey to your year-end and New Year plans?
A conversation between Nakazato Shuko and Mari Terasawa, buyer in charge of "Welcome to ISETAN's Space Branch - Our Future Department Store," will be released on January 3, 2016.
