The Paris-based chocolate festival, Salon du Chocolat 2016, kicked off on January 27th. The fun, take-out chocolate experience has been a hot topic at the venue. The festival will run until January 31st at the Shinjuku NS Building. Patisserie Sadaharu AOKI Paris' "TAKOYAKI Shock Chocolat" (432 yen including tax) is a takoyaki (octopus ball) in both name and appearance. Of course, the filling is chocolate, with the "green laver" (aonori) made into a matcha macaron rusk and the "pickled ginger" (beni shoga) made into a raspberry macaron rusk. Chef Sadaharu Aoki will also be at the venue, baking the chocolate in a takoyaki maker, allowing visitors to enjoy a Japanese festival atmosphere. Jean-Paul Hevin will be making its Japan debut with the chocolate sauce-covered ice cream bar "Exqui Momo" (2 bars for 1,080 yen including tax, 3 bars for 1,620 yen including tax). Vanilla ice cream is coated in chocolate from different regions (Madagascar, Saotome, Venezuela) and topped with nuts. This luxurious treat allows you to enjoy the classic chocolate flavor of Jean-Paul Hevin in an ice cream bar. Frederic Cassel will be introducing a chocolate mille-feuille. It's called "Mille-feuille Finger Chocolate 'Iranka'" (648 yen including tax). Caramelized pie crust is layered with chocolate praline and chocolate cream. The thin chocolate on top has a salty accent, allowing you to experience the authentic French chocolate mille-feuille. PATISSERIE Yoshinori Asami will be releasing "Crème Glacée Chocolat" (670 yen including tax), a combination of two perfectly matched ice creams. Combinations include milk chocolate and Earl Grey, dark chocolate and yuzu, and cupuaçu (a fruit harvested in the Amazon) and condensed milk. Godiva will also be releasing "Chocolixir White Chocolate Raspberry" (651 yen including tax), a chocolate drink that lets you enjoy the marriage of white chocolate and raspberry, while Tokyo Chocolate will be releasing "Nougat Glacé" (432 yen including tax), which is eaten by breaking the chocolate into pieces, and "Cacao Pulp Smoothie" (540 yen including tax), which contains cacao pulp.
