The first solo exhibition of Yasumichi Morita, whose works are both gorgeous and truly "golden"

May 3, 2013

Designer Yasumichi Morita's first art exhibition, "What's! Gold!?", is currently being held at the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza. The opening reception was attended by a celebratory crowd of truly "golden" guests, creating a dazzling atmosphere in the luxurious venue.

This solo exhibition is not a retrospective of Morita's interior design work for shops and restaurants, but rather a collection of "haute couture" pieces created by Morita himself specifically for this occasion.

The gold objects, which Morita says he "made with honesty what he wanted," are based on themes from Japan, America, the UK, France, Russia, and Switzerland, and are gold nuggets that echo the "desire" for objects. Visitors were impressed by the thoroughness of the exhibition, unanimously commenting, "That's so Morita-like! I've never seen such a gorgeous space before!" The exhibition runs until May 19th.
