On April 30th, Animate, a retailer specializing in anime, comics, and video games, launched its new e-commerce site, 2PM WORKS, featuring anime-related fashion items. The site, with its theme of "anime = fashion," offers a curated selection of items that combine Japanese pop culture—from anime like "Evangelion" to manga like "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" and games from Nintendo—with fashion and lifestyle. From apparel to accessories like shoes and bags, interior goods, and hobby goods, the site offers a wide selection of high-quality anime and fashion items. Users can search for products by anime or video game series, item category, or fashion brand. To celebrate the site's launch, pre-orders are currently being accepted for collaboration items with atmos girls and galaxxxy, which were announced on the 2PM WORKS stage at KAWAiiMATSURi, held last month at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. "I feel like fashion brands have been collaborating with anime more often in recent years. Until a decade or so ago, Disney character items were rare, but now they're commonly seen in stores. We thought that a similar phenomenon might occur with anime collaboration items in 10 years, so we took the lead and opened an online store. While it's primarily an e-commerce store, we may open stores in fashion malls and other locations for a limited time. We also plan to create original items from next month. The teaser site, which opened on April 5th, has been met with a positive response, with 500 likes on the Facebook page. Some users have commented that they've always thought a site like this would come about," said a site spokesperson.
The company aims for sales of 200 million yen and 2 million unique users (UUs) in the first year. The average customer spend is expected to be 9,800 yen.
