Starting May 24th, Patisserie Kihachi will be releasing a limited edition of 1,000 "Oyatsu Bento," inspired by a "lunch box filled with lots of snacks." The Japanese bento style is also popular in Paris and New York. This time, based on the concept of a portable tea time, two sets will be sold, each containing Kihachi's baked goods and tea leaves selected by Susumu Onishi of teteria, which sells tea leaves and runs workshops. "OYATSU BENTO CAKE with TEA" (2,200 yen) is a set that includes the exclusive "Square Pound Cake," a refreshing orange-scented pound cake layered with dacquoise dough made with hazelnuts and walnuts, as well as two types of Teteria tea: "Assam [Orthodox] Tea Bag" and "Nuwara Eliya [BOP] Tea Bag," making for a lively tea time.
The "Oyatsu Bento Assortment" (2,200 yen) includes "Financier" with the aroma of mellow burnt butter, "Cake Anglais" made with a mixture of dried fruit soaked in liquor and walnuts, "Diamant Vanilla" with a delightful vanilla aroma and crunchy texture, "Meringue Chocolate Macadamia" meringue accented with cacao and macadamia nuts, and two types of Teteria black tea, making it a set that will get your tea time started right away.
