A refreshing Japanese sweet made with green bamboo from HIGASHIYA, "Aotake Mizuyokan"

May 26, 2017

Japanese confectionery shop HIGASHIYA will be selling "Aotake Mizuyokan," a mizu yokan made with green bamboo, for a limited time starting June 16th.

This beautifully presented summer treat is made by pouring fresh mizu yokan, each piece handcrafted by artisans, into cool green bamboo, preserving the flavor of the freshly cooked jelly. The mizu yokan has a smooth, delicate texture that melts easily in the mouth, and a refined, unobtrusive sweetness that highlights the rich umami of the adzuki beans that fills the mouth. Enjoy the fragrant aroma of natural bamboo along with the refreshing coolness that includes a subtle hint of green bamboo.

The product is presented in an elegant package, with the ends of the bamboo wrapped in bamboo leaves and packed in a bamboo basket, evoking a feeling of coolness. Each stick is priced at 500 yen (sold individually and in stores only). Also available are a set of 5 bottles (3,300 yen) and a set of 10 bottles (5,800 yen) in a bamboo basket.

The sales period is from June 16th to mid-August. Available at HIGASHIYA GINZA, HIGASHIYA man, and the HIGASHIYA online shop (http://www.higashiya.com). Reservations can be made in-store for as little as one bottle.
