NEWYORKER will open its flagship store, the NEWYORKER Ginza Flagship Shop (1-5-13 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, 1st and 2nd floors, ZX Building). A ceremony was held on the 11th prior to the opening, with talent Terry Ito, model Emiri, and professional tennis player Ai Sugiyama attending. Founded in 1964, NEWYORKER celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Terry, a huge fan of the brand since his student days, appeared in an original tartan suit. "When I'm tired from work, wearing clothes with a color scheme like today's makes me feel calm. Checks look good in autumn and Christmas. I'm grateful that this traditional style has been around for 50 years." The store, designed by the architectural firm IMA, is inspired by a New York apartment hotel, featuring classic wood tones matched with monochrome flooring. Terry praised the store, saying, "It's so bright and lovely. The products are displayed lavishly, so customers can relax and enjoy themselves. It's perfect for families or dates." Model Emiri also beamed, saying, "I was in New York for work just a week ago. The store's design, with its brick walls on the second floor and high ceilings, is something you don't often see in Japan, so I think it's really great." An inauguration ceremony was also held that day, where Terry, a true New Yorker fan, was given the role of "One-Day Store Manager." Respectfully receiving his "Certificate of Appointment" from Hiroyuki Kamijo, President and CEO of New Yorker Co., Ltd., Terry revealed, "Actually, after graduating from college, I really wanted to join New Yorker, so I took the exam. I failed miserably, though (laughs)." Looking at the certificate with deep emotion, he said, "I feel like my sadness has been lifted by being invited today. My dream has come true." Afterward, Emily surrounded Terry and performed a sales simulation, playing the role of a store clerk. Sugiyama Ai, who appeared as a guest in the role of a customer, was excited, saying, "I'm happy to have someone help me coordinate my outfit," and shared her thoughts on the outfits, saying, "Set-ups have been popular since last season, so I think it's great" (Emiri), "Fur is cute for fall and winter. It looks like it would be very mature to wear" (Sugiyama), and "It has a refined feel, doesn't it?" (Terry). The New Yorker Ginza flagship store offers both men's and women's items across two floors. The interior is modeled after a "New York apartment hotel," incorporating classical elements such as marble and wood, while creating a simple yet modern space. Blending traditional and modern elements, the store exudes a new New York art vibe, with paintings on the wall next to the staircase leading from the first to the second floor.
