The Ginza flagship store of baby and children's clothing brand "familiar" will relocate and reopen on October 4th at the Ginza Chuo Dori 888 Building (8-8-8 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo). Business hours are from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Based on the concept of "global experiences and inspiration," the store aims to offer a new type of shop offering high-quality products. Comprised of two floors, the second floor features a fashion zone facing Ginza Dori and a consultation zone offering a tranquil space for preparing for childbirth.
The first floor is a promotional space, and the event space "CUBiE," which also includes a cafe, will host a rotating series of collaborative events with various brands and artists. The first collaboration will run until November 6th, with flower artist Nicolai Bergmann presenting the space. Floral textiles designed by Bergmann will adorn the space, and "Fami-chan," Familiar's original character made from preserved flowers, will also be featured. Floral-patterned Fami-chan stuffed toys will also line the walls.
Familiar was founded in Kobe in 1950 by four women, including Atsuko Sakano. With the concept of "manufacturing and selling conscientious and tasteful baby and children's products," the company handled original products for babies to teens and opened Japan's first children's department store, Ginza Familiar, in 1976. In 1999, the store expanded and relocated, operating at New Melsa in Ginza until September 15, 2014.
