Nikolai Bergmann showcases flower arrangements with Samsung's new "Galaxy Tab S"

Jul 31, 2014

Samsung Electronics Japan has announced the release of the GALAXY Tab S, the first flagship tablet in the GALAXY series.

This model is equipped with Japan's first octa-core CPU, consisting of a 1.9GHz quad-core and a 1.3GHz quad-core. By switching between high-performance and power-saving cores depending on the demands, it delivers powerful processing power and excellent battery life.

It also comes with 3GB of RAM and ample storage, allowing you to enjoy large amounts of content with ease. The tablet's WQXGA Super OLED display delivers stunning color reproduction, vividness, and brightness, achieving a color gamut approximately 1.3 times wider than that of a typical LCD display, as well as a contrast ratio 100 times higher than that of a conventional LCD display. What's more, its compact size makes it the thinnest and lightest tablet in the 8-9 inch class, making it easy to carry around (GALAXY Tab S 8.4: approximately 212.8 x 125.6 x 6.6 mm, approximately 294 g, approximately 8.4 inches; GALAXY Tab S 10.5: approximately 177.3 x 247.3 x 6.6 mm, approximately 465 g, approximately 10.5 inches). The launch party held ahead of the launch featured floral artist Nikolai Bergmann, who was in charge of the venue's decorations, and model and actress Maki Nishiyama. Nikolai expressed the beauty of the GALAXY Tab S's colors by coloring the party venue with 20,000 roses of 50 different varieties. He used the product for two weeks and was deeply moved by the beautiful colors. Two days earlier, she had visited Dazaifu for work and photographed the natural scenery. "Because the colors are reproduced in detail, I enjoyed taking close-up shots of subjects more than usual," she said. Nishiyama also mentioned that because of its lightweight size, she plans to continue bringing it with her to presentations and other events. The product on display at the venue also displayed a photo of flowers for which Nikolai provided visual advice. Nishiyama, who made her tablet debut with the product, shared a humorous story: "When I looked at photos I'd taken on my phone on the tablet, they were so vividly reproduced that I had to admit my photography skills weren't very good." She also commented with delight when photos of her homemade dishes, taken with the GALAXY Tab S, were projected onto the large screen at the venue. "The beautiful screen makes them look so much better, so I'm happy that my cooking skills seem to be appreciated more than they actually are." She also shared a photo of her first child, a daughter born last year. "The GALAXY Tab S fits easily in my handbag, so I'll carry it with me at all times and continue to capture my child's growth," she said, revealing her maternal side. The GALAXY Tab S will be on sale from August 1st at GALAXY SHOPs such as Bic Camera, Yamada Denki LABI, and Yodobashi Camera. A campaign is being held where people who apply to purchase the device between August 1st and October 31st can try the Nikkei Online Edition (a paid service) for free for 90 days.
