The Ginza Stationary Festa will be held for six days from January 23rd (Wed) to January 28th (Mon) at the Ginza Mitsukoshi 8th floor event venue. This will be the first large-scale stationery event in the Ginza area.
The theme of this year's fair is based on three pillars: "ENJOY STATIONARY!", "TRY STATIONARY!", and "SELECT STATIONARY!". In addition to a wide selection of fountain pens, there will also be events such as calligraphy and watercolor pencil experiences, catering to everyone from stationery beginners to the discerning patron. Services will also be enhanced with test writing and maintenance consultations, and a special corner will be set up with a concierge on-site.
A variety of brands will be offering limited and advance release products at the fair. S.T. Dupont's Mon Dupont Optic White Fountain Pen (¥61,950) was designed by Karl Lagerfeld. The white body version will be available first. Also available first is the Italian brand Visconti's Opera Master Crystal (¥99,750), a fountain pen with a skeleton body and a snorkel that allows for ink refills without waste. Maren's new Persona Fountain Pen (¥15,750) features a chic marbled resin body. Available exclusively at Ginza Mitsukoshi, both the fountain pen and ballpoint pen are available in a unisex brown color. Japanese brands will also be exhibiting, with artisans from Ohashido, a Sendai company that offers handmade fountain pens, demonstrating their crafting process. Also appearing at the event will be Mark Sphere, a casual, pop-design stationery brand aimed at female customers. A wide selection will be available, including notebooks, ballpoint pens, and clips. It is extremely rare for the brand to participate in a department store event on this scale.
In addition, they have prepared a rare lucky bag for writing instruments. In addition to individual brand lucky bags, they are also selling "Brand Mix" bags (7,875 yen to 44,520 yen) containing two or three fountain pens and ballpoint pens from different brands, in response to requests from customers who want to try a variety of manufacturers. You can also expect to find some unexpected bargains.
Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, two stations from Ginza, has held the "World Fountain Pen Festival" 13 times, and there have been concerns raised about holding a stationery fair at the nearby Ginza Mitsukoshi store. However, Kyoko Abe, assistant buyer in charge of this fair, explains, "While customers at the Nihonbashi main store prefer chic, classic items, in Ginza, products that balance traditional and edgy designs are popular, so the customer base is very different. Good products sell regardless of price. Furthermore, we planned this fair not only to delve deeper into products, but also to attract female customers who prefer participatory events, so that they can enjoy experiencing stationery. 60% of the customers at the Ginza Mitsukoshi stationery department are women. Even though it's the same writing instruments, I think this fair has a different concept from the Nihonbashi fair." This is the first large-scale stationery event in the area, realized with a thorough understanding of the characteristics of "Ginza."
