Timberland, an outdoor lifestyle brand born on the American East Coast, will be releasing new releases and collaboration models of its iconic hand-sewn boat shoes (the Three-Eye Classic Lug and Classic Two-Eye Boat Shoes) starting April 9th.

Since its founding in 1973, Timberland has built its reputation on expert craftsmanship and groundbreaking innovation. The 6-inch Premium Waterproof (commonly known as the Yellow Boot), released that same year, became a global favorite for its exceptional waterproofness, durability, and traction, giving people the confidence to tackle inclement weather and rugged terrain. Five years later, in 1978, Timberland leveraged the know-how gained from the Yellow Boot to develop a completely new type of boat shoe.

Previously, boat shoes were only worn on boats. Timberland took the iconic lug outsole of its Yellow Boots and combined it with a premium, hand-sewn leather upper.

The result was a completely new boat shoe with rugged outdoor performance that would go on to influence all boat shoes to come and create an entirely new footwear category: "rugged casual." The following year, in 1979, Timberland developed its own slip-resistant sole for improved performance on boat decks and combined it with a hand-sewn leather upper to create the brand's first true boat shoe.

Since then, Timberland has continued to innovate and improve its icon. "The Timberland Yellow Boots are a true pioneer in boat shoes," said Doreeka Linknet, Timberland's vice president of global marketing. "Timberland's first boat shoe was so fresh and unexpected that it was loved by people all over the world. Timberland boat shoes have literally transcended generations and are one of our most iconic styles today. But our innovation doesn't stop there. While maintaining the iconic look, we continue to explore ways to make it better through innovative new eco-friendly materials and collaborations with other brands."

As part of the brand's vision for a greener future, all Timberland boat shoes are made with Better Leather, which is produced at tanneries that are audited by the Leather Working Group and certified silver or gold for water, energy and waste management.

This spring collection features two new colors for the Classic Two-Eye Boat Shoe: navy suede and medium gray suede. Additionally, this spring, Timberland will be releasing collaborations with two brands that remaster the authentic silhouette of the Three-Eye Classic Lug.

Timberland has collaborated on boat shoes with a variety of brands, including Colette, Supreme, and 10 Corso Como, and this spring, they will release a collaborative model with Queens, New York-based Aimé Leon Dore, which brings a simple yet powerful rendition of the iconic design, and a collaborative model with New York street culture brand Alife, which elevates the brand's signature style by tinkering with proportions.

The new Spring Boat Shoes Collection will be available at Timberland stores, the official Timberland online shop, and authorized retailers such as shoe chains.

*The above collaboration models will be available at the following locations:
・ "Aimé Leon Dore" (on sale from April 9th): Isetan Shinjuku PC4 store, Namba Walk store, official online shop
・ "Alife": Not available in Japan
[Three-Eye Classic Lug]
The Three-Eye Classic Lug is a handsewn moccasin shoe created in 1978 by founder Nathan Schwartz, who wanted to use his boot development skills to create footwear that would protect people's feet in all kinds of everyday situations. Since then, the Three-Eye Classic Lug has become a symbolic item of Timberland, along with the 6-inch Premium Boots (commonly known as the Yellow Boots). Timberland's unique moccasin construction method, in which a single piece of soft, oiled premium leather is wrapped around the sole and sides, a U-shaped leather part is placed over the instep, and then expert artisans carefully hand-lace the entire shoe with durable thread, results in a durable moccasin that molds to the wearer's foot the more it is worn.
In Japan, during the "Shibuji Casual" boom of the late '80s and '90s, the moccasin became known as a must-have accessory for navy blazer and jeans outfits, and has since become widely recognized as a fashion item on a par with yellow boots.

【Classic 2-Eye Boat Shoes】
The Classic 2-Eye Boat Shoes, which were introduced in 1979, feature a siped rubber outsole with grooves to prevent slipping in wet conditions. The grooves provide excellent traction and allow water to escape between the sole and deck. The upper is oiled for increased water resistance. A highly cushioned EVA footbed is used for the men's version, and a full-length version for the women's. The men's version is made from a single piece of leather, just like traditional deck shoes, so you can tighten the laces for an even better fit. The cup sole adds a stylish touch.
