The theme of Malamute's 2014-2015 Autumn/Winter collection is "She's a Woman." The designer was inspired by the floral-patterned Fäller towels her grandmother and mother owned as a child, and incorporated the tension and discomfort she felt from the colors and patterns at the time, as well as their appeal, which she now appreciates anew, into her designs.
The terrycloth-like pattern, in which the roses stand out, is realized in six-color jacquard knit. The stole uses sock knitting techniques to create a three-dimensional look for the petals. Variations are added to the design by combining hand stitching and machine knitting, and mixing different yarns. The silhouettes were inspired by the outfits worn by mothers who came to parent-teacher conferences when the designer was in elementary school.
Designer Mari Kodaka is from Saitama Prefecture. After graduating from Bunka Women's University in 2009 and Bunka Fashion Graduate University in 2011, she was in charge of knitwear for MIKIO SAKABE's JennyFax from 2012-13 AW. She launched her own brand in December 2012 and released her first clothing collection this season. The brand concept is "a woman who combines strength and softness."
