Isetan Shinjuku will be holding "MODE in Bead Summer Bead Collection" from May 28th to June 2nd in the event space on the 7th floor of the main building, showcasing jewelry by bead artists active in Japan and vintage bead and other components. This exhibition is held at the store every six months, and this time 23 artists and 6 bead component shops will exhibit to convey the appeal of bead jewelry. Uta Ohno, said to be a leading figure in the recent bead boom, will be showcasing necklaces made from ancient Roman glass beads and "shukuha necklaces" (finished product: 28,000 yen, kit: 16,000 yen), which feature colorful natural stones strung together on cords. Designer Yoko Shimizu, known for her work that emphasizes brilliance when worn, will be showcasing eye-catching bead jewelry made with pearls and natural stones, including the "Gemeos Double-Knot 7-Way Necklace" (completed product: ¥32,037, kit: ¥11,574) by Yoko Shimizu, and the "Christine 3-Way Necklace" (completed product: ¥30,000, kit: ¥15,000) by Tadanori Kayama, the only male exhibitor. Other exhibitors include Chiyuki, who uses original Venetian glass; Kelly Mami, who uses resin clay; and Yamanaka Megumi + aYa, who create bead jewelry using nets and string. Some artists will offer not only finished products but also kits for those who prefer to make their own. Shops selling vintage beads and rare natural stones, including "Julian," "Melting Point," and "Cou de Bijou," will also be exhibiting at the venue. Some stores will offer advice on how to make beaded jewelry and a service where you can assemble purchased parts on the spot to create your own unique beaded jewelry.

Workshops will also be held during the event. From the 28th to the 2nd, exhibitors will personally lead a workshop for intermediate-level participants in the store's 7th floor banquet room. (Participation fees range from 4,000 to 15,000 yen, including course and materials; participants must bring their own beading tools.) Additionally, from the 31st to June 2nd, a beginner-friendly bead-making workshop will be held at the venue. Exhibitor staff will provide instruction on how to make relatively easy pendants, brooches, earrings, and other items, taking approximately 30 to 60 minutes.

"The joy of making beaded jewelry is at its core. We've heard from customers who are interested but don't know where to source the materials. This event will also feature separate parts for sale, as well as finished pieces created by designers that have a more jewelry-like feel than traditional beaded jewelry. We hope as many customers as possible will experience the joy of making beaded jewelry and the value of beaded jewelry," said the buyer in charge.

Exhibiting artists include Kayama Tadanori, Shimizu Yoko, Uta Ohno, Sumi Rie, Shuto Kimie, Nagata Toshiko, Shintani Yoriko, Kishi Misako, Yamanaka Megumi + aYa, Paltazar Hiromi, Hiyanagi Sakiko, Nishimura Junko, Kelly Mami, Chiyuki, Seki Keiko, Okamoto Keiko, Nagatsubo Junko, Shinohara Miwa, Aoki Eri, Kasagi Murasakino, Homma Kumiko, Hinako Yaeko & Mitsui Chie.

Exhibiting stores include Genuine, Julien, Melting Point, Coup de Bijou, Latif, and Beads Lounge.
