"HOPE AND LOVE" is a two-day charity event from Paris held in Daikanyama! It features a TOGA flea market, chioben stalls, and a snack bar with Issei Kitagawa.

Aug 1, 2016

The Paris-based charity event "HOPE AND LOVE" will be held for two days, August 6th and 7th, at Daikanyama Hillside Terrace and Gallery AL in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

The project was launched by fashion coordinator Noriko Ishizaka in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake by a group of Parisian women involved in fashion. Currently, the project's members include photographers, chefs, and others active in creative fields outside of the fashion industry. Donations raised to date have been used to support disaster-stricken areas, including soup kitchens and the construction of temporary wooden housing in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, a project to donate boats to fishermen lost in a typhoon in the Philippines, and the reconstruction of schools and construction costs for tent houses in Nepal.

The highlight of this 21st event will be a two-day charity flea market featuring famous stylists and Tokyo brands. The event will feature a wide selection of clothing and accessories from Japan's leading brands, select shops, and stylists, including Undercover, Anrealage, Beautiful People, G.V.G.V., TOGA, and Beams. There will also be a food court featuring famous chefs from Paris and Tokyo. Creative bento boxes and sweets from renowned chefs such as TOYO and Bento&Go will be available. Organic herbal teas and cookies will also be available during tea time. Other participating vendors include chioben, eatrip, and MAISON CINQUANTECINQ. Starting at 5:00 PM on August 6th, Snack GRAPH will host a special event featuring Issei Kitagawa, the graphic designer behind GRAPH, and the sophisticated snack bar GRAPH. There will also be a "Paris Chef and Sommelier Pairing Cooking Class," where you can learn cooking tips from a notable Parisian chef. Starting at 11:00 AM on the 6th, Chef Toyomitsu Nakayama of Restaurant TOYO will serve three appetizers, including bouillabaisse, and two main courses. From 11am on the 7th, you can enjoy two appetizers and one main course of French cuisine prepared by Shimano Yu, former meat chef at the three-star Parisian restaurant Guy Savoye.

You can also enjoy a variety of other events, such as a "Happy Lecture for the Second Half of the Year" by Aoki Yoshifumi, fashion editor in charge of the fashion and fortune-telling pages of fashion magazine Figaro Japon and women's magazine DRESS.

As in previous years, proceeds from this event will be donated to support Tohoku, as well as to the areas affected by the 2016 Kumamoto and Oita earthquakes. Starting this year, credit cards will also be accepted for shopping.
