Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was born July 28, 1929, and died May 19, 1994. She was from New York, USA. She was the wife of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States.
Her parents divorced when she was young, and she grew up under a strict mother. After graduating from George Washington University, she worked as a newspaper photographer, covering the society column. While engaged to a stockbroker, she broke off the engagement after meeting Kennedy, who was then a senator, and married him in September 1953. They had four children, but their marriage was fraught with problems, including Kennedy's flamboyant relationships and Jacqueline's infidelity.
When Kennedy became president in 1961, Jacqueline became the youngest First Lady in US history (at age 31). However, she is said to have had little interest in politics. Her fashion style, known as the "Jackie Style," garnered attention and made her a popular fashion icon. "Jackie" was Jacqueline's nickname. She favored simple yet sophisticated clothing, including elegant suits and feminine silk dresses. Her favorite Gucci handbag, created in 1950, became so popular that it came to be called the "Jackie Bag." In 2009, creative director Frida Giannini released a redesigned version of the same bag, known as the "New Jackie." After President Kennedy's assassination in November 1963, Jacqueline withdrew from public life. In 1968, she remarried Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. After Onassis's death in 1975, she worked for a publishing company and became an editor.
