It has been announced that Blur, the iconic British rock band, will perform in Japan in January 2014.
This will be their first performance in 10 years, since Summer Sonic in 2003, and their first solo show since their performances at the Nippon Budokan and Akasaka Blitz in May and June 1997. The performance date and venue will be announced at a later date.
Blur was scheduled to headline the Tokyo Rocks 2013 festival, which was scheduled to take place at Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo in May of this year, but the festival suddenly announced its cancellation. Many fans who had been eagerly awaiting their visit to Japan harshly criticized the festival's management and PR on social media, causing a major stir.
Blur formed in London in 1990. Their third album, "Parklife," which combined traditional British rock with a post-punk sound, is still listened to today as a classic Britpop album, alongside Oasis' "Morning Glory." After a hiatus in late 2003, they reunited in 2009. Last August, they headlined the London Olympics closing concert in Hyde Park.
