Björk will be performing in Japan this summer for the first time in five years! The theme is "Technology and Nature"

May 22, 2013

Icelandic musician Björk has announced her first performance in Japan in five years. Her "Biophilia" concert, themed around technology and nature, will take place at the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) for three days on July 31st, August 3rd, and August 6th. Biophilia is a multimedia project consisting of a studio album, app, website, custom-made instruments, live performances, and educational workshops. It began in Manchester, UK, in July 2011 and has toured eight locations around the world over the course of three years. In addition to Manchester, Björk has previously performed in Reykjavik, New York, and Buenos Aires, with a performance scheduled for Paris this year. The venue, a small venue with a capacity of approximately 800, will feature Björk, her instruments, and a choir in the center of the venue, surrounded by the audience, forming a circle around Björk. The blue and orange of her costumes are inspired by the Earth and represent the natural aspect of the theme.

Tickets for this performance will be sold via a special online lottery application system, with applications being accepted in two batches. The first batch will be accepted from May 21st to 27th, with the winners announced on May 31st. The second batch will be accepted from June 3rd to 10th, with the winners announced on June 14th.
