The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo is hosting an exhibition for parents and children, "Ghosts, Underwear, and Stars—A Place Where Children Can Be Children," running until September 8th.
Five artists and groups exhibit works themed on "ghosts," "underwear," and "stars." Visitors are permitted to touch the artworks and take commemorative photos with family and friends within the venue.
Zero Zero SS, an art unit formed by "HISUI" designer Hiroko Ito and artist Takeshi Matsuoka, has set up a transformation corner, "A Different Me from the Usual Me," at the entrance and exit. Various fabrics and beards are hung on the wall in the entrance corner. Visitors can choose their favorite item, wear it, and move around the venue. The exit corner features a photo booth and a production space equipped with fabrics and sewing machines. Choose your favorite fabric and create an original item. The item can then be displayed on a mannequin, or photographed in the photo booth. The photograph taken is displayed on an adjacent screen, and when other visitors hold their faces through a hole in front of the screen, only their faces are swapped and they transform.
Other exhibits include Matsumoto Riki's "Ghost" corner, which shows an animation with the theme "Where are ghosts?" Hamaguchi Sakurako's "Pants" corner features pictures pasted all over the wall, with a large "Hadaka-chan" stuffed toy placed in the middle. In the "Stars" corner by the Random Constellation Association, visitors can create their own random constellation inside a tent. Torafu Architects is exhibiting a "Haunted House" filled with portraits.
