BUAISOU
Founded in 2015 in Kamiitacho, Tokushima Prefecture, the home of Japanese indigo. From cultivating the raw material indigo, to making sukumo (a type of dye), dyeing, design, and production, the indigo dyeing industry has traditionally been divided into separate labor processes. We convey the appeal of natural indigo through a variety of methods, creating original indigo-dyed products, collaborating with others, and holding exhibitions and workshops both in Japan and abroad.

Samiro Yunoki
Dyeing artist. Born in Tokyo in 1922. After encountering the "Mingei" (folk art) advocated by Soetsu Yanagi, he apprenticed under Keisuke Serizawa and embarked on a career in dyeing. In 1955, he held his first solo exhibition at Takumi Kogeiten in Ginza. Since then, he has continued to create and exhibit numerous works for over 50 years. His exhibitions have been held both in Japan and abroad, including at the Guimet Museum of Asian Art in France, the Japan Folk Crafts Museum, and the Setagaya Art Museum, and have been well-received.
