Spotify (company name: Spotify AB / headquarters: Stockholm, Sweden), an audio streaming service used by over 356 million users worldwide, has released 10 original playlists to celebrate PRIDE Month, June, a month of awareness-raising activities around the world about LGBTQQIA+ rights and culture.
Spotify will be holding various activities globally to celebrate PRIDE Month under the theme "Claim Your Space." In Japan, playlists curated by LGBTQQIA+ creators will recreate a safe space where everyone can be themselves through music. Until now, music events have been one of the places where the LGBTQQIA+ community could be themselves, but now that it's difficult to hold physical events, we're providing an opportunity for people to connect through music through playlists that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
Curators of the original playlist include kemio, who also hosts Spotify's original podcast program "kemio's Ear Cleaning Club," and Doul, who was selected for "RADAR: Early Noise 2021," a program that supports up-and-coming Japanese artists with promising future potential. Each playlist can be enjoyed in the "Pride" section.
Comment from kemio
"I've put together a playlist of all the music I love and cherish, music that I practically grew up with! It's sure to get you excited, relaxed, and in the mood for the best, so enjoy this playlist this PRIDE MONTH!"
