Beautiful People presented their 2016 Spring/Summer collection in Shibuya during Tokyo Fashion Week (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2016 S/S) in October. The designer is Kumakiri Hidenori.

The elegant style continues from last season. According to Kumakiri, the theme of "old tricks" refers to commonplace methods and worn-out techniques, and this season is the culmination of a thorough re-examination of old couture. BP is renowned for the quality of its patterns, but they have further refined their designs for this collection.

The underlying theme of the collection is "toile (sheeting)," and inspiration was vintage Dior from the 1950s, among others. Indeed, many silhouettes featured shaped waists and flared bottoms, reminiscent of Christian Dior's Bar jacket, and the first look featured a top resembling a corset.

Classical expressions were also seen in the textiles. Toile de Jouy, an 18th century Rococo pattern, was reworked in BP's style, featuring a graphic of Jack and the Beanstalk. The use of vintage lace was also distinctive.

While many elegant, wide-leg pants looks were featured, one look that particularly caught the eye was an all-in-one with a skirt wrapped around the back. The color palette consisted of white, black, and reddish-brown, accented with bright lavender and mint green, creating a refreshing contrast that left a lasting impression.
