Muji announces project to propose "sheds" as second homes

Jul 11, 2015

Ryohin Keikaku, the developer of MUJI products, will unveil "MUJI HUT," a project proposing a new kind of "hut" at "Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH 2015," to be held at Tokyo Midtown from October 16 to November 3.

The project proposes housing for city dwellers who lead routine lives during the week but long to venture out into the countryside and connect with nature on the weekends.

The so-called "hut"-like home, designed to be minimal yet enriching, was developed in collaboration with three designers: Naoto Fukasawa, Jasper Morrison, and Konstantin Grcic. The home offers a comfortable space where people can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy solitude, reading, daydreaming, listening to the rain, or breathing in fresh air.
