The first documentary film about Denki Groove, a maverick in the music industry. Directed by Hitoshi Ohne, director of "Moteki."

Formed in 1989 by Takkyu Ishino and Pierre Taki, Denki Groove are mavericks in the music world. Last year marked the band's 25th anniversary, and their first documentary film is scheduled for release this December. It has also been revealed that director Hitoshi Ohne, known for his work on music videos for Scha Dara Parr and Fujifabric, as well as the film "Moteki," has been selected to direct the film. Denki Groove has garnered attention for their unique blend of techno and electro, as well as their unconventional performances. They made their major label debut in 1991 with the album "FLASH PAPA," and played a key role in introducing authentic techno to music listeners in the 1990s, while also recording hit singles like "N.O." and "Shangri-La." After a hiatus from 2001 to 2004, the band has consistently released albums since 2008. In 2014, marking their 25th anniversary, they made a name for themselves by performing as the only Japanese artists to headline the GREEN STAGE at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '14. Takkyu Ishino also continues to perform as "Japan's busiest DJ," providing music for artists like Kaela Kimura and SMAP, and remixing artists like Chatmonchy and Sakanaction. He also plays at clubs across Japan and Asia every weekend, making him "Japan's busiest DJ." Meanwhile, Pierre Taki has earned acclaim for his acting talents, appearing in a succession of popular productions, including the films "Like Father, Like Son," "Frozen" (Japanese dubbed version), and "Attack on Titan," as well as the NHK Taiga drama "Ryomaden" and the morning drama "Amachan." Centered around these two unique personalities, this film also interweaves testimonials from former members Yoshinori Sunahara and CMJK, as well as a host of renowned artists including Scha Dara Parr, Sakanaction's Ichiro Yamaguchi, and Keralino Sandrovich, as well as staff members associated with Denki Groove, including Smash CEO Masahiro Hidaka and rockinon'JAPAN editor-in-chief Yoichiro Yamazaki, to tell the story of their untold history. This is also the first documentary film directed by Hitoshi Ohne. With his deep knowledge of the music scene and subculture, his selection for the role was apparently driven by the members' strong desire. Director Ohne, who accepted this important role, says, "These seniors were the funniest, craziest, and coolest, but at the same time, they were the ones I least wanted to get close to—and therefore the ones I least wanted to work with."

"I will be editing and directing footage from the past 25 years of Denki Groove. I was proud of the fact that I had taken on fairly difficult missions in the past, but knowing that even the coolest of my seniors are scary critics, I had a feeling that this job would be hellish. As the subculture generation's motto goes, "But do it!" " is not a job that can be overcome with just a little patience. Now, when I look at the finished product, I think... it's not even finished yet!! Filming began at last year's Fuji Rock Festival, and we started full-scale editing around the time the cherry blossoms were in bloom, after checking and selecting a huge amount of footage (250 hours, 5 terabytes!!!) from the past 25 years, but there's no way we can summarize the history of Denki Groove in just two hours!! So what was originally planned as a "summer release" has become a "winter release"... Furthermore, when I met Takkyu recently, he said, "I don't remember asking him to do it," and Taki said, "I'll leave it to you. I'll complain when I see the finished product... Someone please take over this job!!" - a lengthy and lamentable comment.

"DENKI GROOVE THE MOVIE? ~Ishino Takkyu and Pierre Taki~" will be released nationwide in December 2015.
