Lexus has launched the label "INTERSECT BY LEXUS RECORDS" at its lifestyle venue, "INTERSECT BY LEXUS." The first release, a vinyl record overseen by DJ Towa Tei, who also produces the venue's sound, will be released on July 22nd. The label aims to offer "rich sounds" that will add color to your lifestyle through vinyl records. Amid sluggish CD sales, vinyl records are enjoying a resurgence in popularity in Japan, thanks to growing interest in the warm sound quality of young people in Europe and the United States. The A-side of the label's first release, "INTERSECT BY LEXUS RECORDS #001" (1,400 yen), features "CUL DE SAC TOWA TEI with Leo Imai," a single cut from Towa Tei's new album "CUTE," due for release on July 29th. The B-side contains a live recording from the "INTERSECT BY LEXUS Neighboring House" event held in March.
Regarding the launch, Towa Tei commented, "Analog records are prints that make sound. They're art that you can casually dress up in. I thought this was such a fun trend, and then Lexus suggested we make one. This playful feeling is 'LUX'. In 10 years they'll be antiques. Get one while you can."
